About the Programme

GOSUMEC Scholars Programme in association with FFE is a CSR initiative of GOSUMEC Foundation USA focused towards providing financial assistance to meritorious and financially constrained students enabling them to pursue a career in Medicine. This programme aims to support the skill-building initiative of the country and advance Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) education in India.

Under this scholarship, students pursuing the first-year of MBBS from government colleges will be provided financial assistance up to INR 1,00,000 per year for up to 4.5 years to cover academic expenses incurred towards their MBBS programme.

The foundation believes in the cause of education and considers it a powerful tool in transforming lives for a promising future.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Students pursuing the first-year of their MBBS programme from government colleges are eligible.
  • Applicants must have obtained at least 65% marks in Class 12 board examinations.
  • Annual family income of the applicants should be below INR 3,00,000 from all sources.
  • Open for Indian nationals only.

Up to INR 1,00,000 per year for students pursuing MBBS, with a total of up to INR 4.5 lakh over four and a half years.

Note: Scholarship funds can only be utilised for academic expenses which include tuition fees, exam fees, books, hostel fees, food and seminars. If funds still remain, they will be used for stationery, online learning, and payment of internet/data pack bills.

Students apply to GSK Scholars Programme in association with FFE through an online application form.

Once student eligibility is determined, students are connected to one of FFE’s distributed network of volunteer “Facilitators” in 27 states. Facilitators meet the prospective student or their family members, virtually, to determine the genuineness of need and financial hardship.

After verification of family background and academic credentials, students submit the application form online along with all supporting document and requirement for GSK Scholars Programme in association with FFE

GSK Scholars Programme in association with FFE is based on a reimbursement model as students have already incurred expenses when they first apply for a scholarship (1st semester of College).

FFE does not discriminate based on caste, creed or religion.

Applicants will be notified latest by January 31st, 2025. Scholarship will be awarded to the eligible scholars post verification and selection. The selection will happen on a merit cum application basis. Not all applicants to the program will be selected as recipients.

Foundation for Excellence processes scholarship payments on behalf of GOSUMEC. Payments are made in one instalment before 31st March of each year.

Who is eligible for GOSUMEC Scholars Programme in association with FFE?

The selection process for the GOSUMEC Scholars programme 2023-24 is a multi-stage process where students are selected on the basis of their academic merit and financial background. The steps involved in the selection process include:

  • Shortlisting of candidates based on their academic merit and financial background.
  • Document verification
  • Telephonic interview of the shortlisted candidates post document verification.
  • Final selection of scholars
How will I receive the scholarship fund?

The scholarship amount will be transferred (on an annual basis) directly to the scholars’ bank account.

What kind of receipts should I submit for receiving this scholarship?

GOSU-FFE Scholarship will be disbursed at the end of the academic term on a reimbursement basis, therefore the students should retain all original Tuition fee receipts, Hostel & Mess receipts, Book fee receipts, Internet recharge receipts and any other educational expense related receipts. All the receipts should be clubbed into one single document and uploaded along with the Scholarship application.

Am I eligible to apply for the scholarship if I am currently in the second year of the MBBS programme?

No, you cannot apply for this scholarship this year. Currently, the scholarship is open for those candidates who are pursuing their studies in the first year of their MBBS programme.
